Called to Serve

As many of you may or may not know I have decided to serve a mission! I opened my call back in March and I have been called to serve in the California Anaheim Mission and I leave July 3, 2013! I am so excited to serve the Lord! My dad also served in California but in the San Bernardino mission which is pretty close to mine. When I opened my call to Anaheim I could not imagine myself going anywhere else.

When I was a senior in high school I wanted to serve a mission and it felt right. As I went through my freshman year of college I kept on getting the confirmation that I needed to go. I was 100% ready to serve the Lord and was anxiously waiting to start my papers. Fast forward to my sophomore year- General Conference October 2012. When it was announced that the mission age was lowered from 21 to 19 I felt confused on what I should do. It had no big effect on me but for some reason I found all these excuses not to go. Then I started feeling unqualified. There was no way that I was ready. I thought I knew the gospel but as I started to move forward I felt like I just joined the church in the past month. I felt like I had been knocked down and there was no way that I would be ready to teach the gospel to others. I continued to go to church and my institute classes. I always had this question on my mind, "Should I go on a mission?" I sent in my papers, received my call but I still was not sure.

Then I read a quote:
"God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called."

How true this is! Once I read that I started to understand. The things I have been wanting to fall into place weren't because they were not meant to. My education was meant to be put on hold for a little while, my social life and dating also needed to be put on the back burner. By serving a mission it will qualify me to be a much better person than before. It will better qualify me to be a better friend, student, wife, mother, daughter, sister, neighbor, church member, etc...

I understand that a mission is not for every one. It is something that needs much thought and prayer. Through 9 months of much doubt, confusion, prayer, scripture reading, as well other things I received my answer. I love this gospel with all my heart. It has brought me such happiness and I truly want others to feel and know the same happiness.

Oh What A Beautiful Morning!

// Keeing a positive attitude :) \\

// Yesterday I took a nap around 6ish and I woke up around 3am (just a little time before work) Oops.
That means my rough draft that was due today did not get done. But then I got this email and I was rejoicing. \\

// I got 9 hours of sleep! That never happens- not even close. I'm lucky to get 5. \\

sUrpRise!!!

This weekend my parents came up to surprise me!!!
I was not expecting that because it's so close to the end of the school year
and I saw them last week and they told me they had plans.
But they cancelled them. Basically I love my parents.
Watching Conference. And my mom made me food!

And there was a rainbow. Pictures will never do it justice.

Que Sera!

Number one. Isn't she gorgeous?!

Number Two:
This is the sound of home.
I love Doris Day.
My parents are the reason of my obsession.

My life is a little crazy.
        This song  makes me happy.
                                   Que Sera!

7 more days and I'm home!
(another favorite is here)

Happiness Is...

Random Music Video of the Day- here it is.
I don't understand the dancing human animals. Are they from her pajamas or are they just there for fun? But I would love to have her wardrobe.

And then I got this idea from Sara at her blog Happiness Is... Her whole blog is finding the good in each day. Today was such a good day I had to share everything that made me happy.

Happiness Is...
  • Talking to the wee hours of the morning with the roommate (and watching the above video)
  • Taylor doing my hair when she could have slept in
  • Getting many compliments on the outfit I wore today- some by complete strangers
  • Institute
  • Dance parties in the kitchen with Taylor as we got our lunch (we are odd and we know it)
  • A clean kitchen
  • A simple nap
  • Being with someone I missed
  • My sweet roommate (aka Taylor) cooked dinner while I was out and about
  • My other roommates gave Taylor and I a cinnamon roll just for the heck of it.
Such an ordinary day but it made me quite happy.

1-19-2012 Happiness

  1. My sniffles have been reduced dramatically. Instead of going through 2 packs of pocket tissue for each class, I went through less than 1 all day. Cause for celebration? I think so.
  2. Listening to "Remember When it Rained" by Josh Groban while walking through the rain. Perfect? Yes.
  3. Getting my new favorite drink (Fuze- banana colada) and Strawberry milk from the Quad Side.
  4. Finally got a hold of someone who was still selling their old textbook. 20 bucks cheaper is better than full price. This was fabulous!
  5. Physics. Yes, I know that is odd but it has been very enjoyable and fascinating. I am actually learning. But put that learning to studying for a test and I probably won't be so thrilled about physics, but for now physics is something that makes me happy.
  6. Reading next to a cold window with a blanket over me. Perfect rainy day setting.
  7. Procrastinating homework that's due tomorrow. Maybe not the best thing. But not doing it gave me a little happiness. Better go do it.
Toodles :)

Glorious things of the past 24 hours

  1. I worked for 8 hours today! (it's very good news when you are a very poor college student and Christmas is right around the corner).
  2. I got most of my Christmas shopping done (though the paying up part was not so glorious)
  3. My mom brought me the thing I have been craving the most.... Chicken Tenders (I know, I'm odd)
  4. My mom told me what Blake almost got me for Christmas (febreze) it made me laugh. (my mom made him change his mind).
  5. My mom stays up late watching old tv shows with me (yes I did just mention my mom 3 times in a row... because she is glorious!)
  6. And this...
